For a primary activity this year, some talented photographers took pictures of families in front of the Boston Temple. What a great idea! The pictures turned out so nice.
My friend Emily and her little boy Parker. Soon after these pictures, she moved with her husband and baby to Pittsburg. We miss you! I'm glad we got to become friends before she left.

This is a fantastic photo of my sister Sarah and her family. Don't they look great? (Photography compliments of Becca.)

This summer my MIL Reita had discomfort in her abdomen and they discovered a large tumor on her liver. After an extensive surgury and recovery, she is cancer free and doing well. We were sure worried about her.

We went out to Regina's Pizza with the Kahmanns down in the North End in Boston. (Little Italy)

Luke and Jess at the Kahmann's 4th of July BBQ.

This is me with my vegetable garden this summer. Plants sure do like to grow here! (With a lot of work, don't get me wrong.) This is one of my favorite hobbies. I love being a teacher so I have the summer time off so I can be outside in my garden. I also love the independence and nutrition that comes from growing my own produce.

This is one of the may rainstorms that come during the summer in Massachusetts. Here, it seems like we worry about too much rain, rather than too little, for the garden.

We went up to Gloucester, MA for ward beach day with people from church. It was very hot and sunny! Since the water up here is so cold, it really was best to be out on a super hot day. We swam in the ocean a lot more than we usually can stand, because it was nicer to be in the water than out. We even spent time near the rocks and dug for clams and used them as bait for crabs (with the ward kids, it was fun). Some friends even let us borrow their kayaks for a nice paddle out in the bay.

Here's Luke, right before we went kayaking. We got out to the lighthouse in the background.

One Saturday we went out to the Blue Hills Reservation. It was great! There were real trails and hiking and hills and forests. On top of one hill there's a tower that gets you over the trees so you can see Boston in the distance (it's very faint in the picture).

I got my hair chopped off! I donated 12 inches to Locks of Love and found a nice salon in Boston that does donation haircuts for free. I love my short hair.

Shayna and I after a very humid run. Don't we look great! This summer we got together once a week for a run as a Relief Society enrichment interest group. There is no better way to keep in shape then having some friends to run with!
Luke got me a cool new watch for my birthday. It is a Nikeplus Sportband. It comes with a sensor for your running shoe that automatically records your distance, time and speed. The the watch comes off and can plug into a USB port in your computer to download the info and keep track of your training. It lets you calibrate it to your stride, and works pretty well. The only downfall I've noticed is that it tends to tell me a shorter distance than I have actually run (either by mapping or running on a track).
